Skin Wrinkles and Spots

We now know that time is not the main cause of wrinkles, spots or lack of elasticity, but prolonged exposure or unprotected to the sun's rays to talk about this issue, dermatologists use a precise term: photo aging.

Therefore, if it can be said that all people who have been exposed to the sun develop photo aging is also true that overexposure significantly accelerates the degeneration of our tissues.

Also, note that it has been observed that while the chronological aging is characterized by soft, smooth and fine wrinkles, the deterioration caused by long tanned features thicker wrinkles, rough skin, dry and leathery, without elasticity, with altered pigmentation (spots), broken capillaries and, in severe cases, precancerous skin growths.

UV photo aging
The ultraviolet radiation emitted by the Sun are of three types, and are called A, B and C, the latter are stopped by the ozone layer of the Earth, so we only get the first two, whose names are abbreviated as UVA and UVB.

It was long thought that UVB rays were the only harmful, it was learned early that penetrate the epidermis (outer layer of skin) and cause cancer, rash (red spots), freckles and other pigmentation disorders. However, more recent studies to demonstrate that UVA emissions, used even in tanning because they thought harmless, are guilty of photo aging itself, because if it does not cause burns, degrade the cells that give firmness to the skin and produce sagging, wrinkles, blemishes and dehydration.

To prevent damage from sun exposure
Protect against UVA and UVB emissions are essential to minimize future damage, and early: 80% of the damage caused by UV rays occurs before age 18. For this reason, researchers now work in a wide variety of creams, foods, vitamins and medications to reverse photo aging.

Thus, while it is still making inquiries as to the action of products and substances such as grape seed, green tea, aspirin, soy extract or various drugs, we know that vitamin A and its derivatives called retinoid, are the products give better results in fighting premature aging, as has been observed that the application of creams and a diet high in liver, oily fish, egg yolk, milk, cheese, butter, carrots, spinach, peaches, broccoli, pears, oranges , mango and apple brand noticeable difference.

There are also other substances which help eliminate free radicals, whose consumption also helps stop the process of degeneration of tissues: vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin E. Therefore, we recommend the use of orange, grapefruit, guava, strawberry, lemon, cauliflower, gooseberries, kiwi, melon and tomato, and avocado, plums, asparagus and bananas.

Also the use of filters is always recommended, in cold weather areas or as much sun, only to accentuate its effectiveness should follow these recommendations:
Using a filter with scale protection factor (SPF) 15, at least.
Use these products daily when exposure to ultraviolet rays is more than 20 minutes.
Apply filter 15 to 30 minutes before departure, especially if skin is dry, with special attention to face, ears, hands and arms and other areas of skin not covered by clothing.
Avoid deliberate tanning with internal or external light and limiting exposure during rush hours (between 11 and 15 hours).
Reapply filter regularly, because no matter where you are a (beach, mountain, desert or city), the effectiveness of these products decreases after two hours or so. Act the same way after swimming or engaging in any activity that produces sweat, which can remove protection.
Thus, one can observe that the beneficial effects of tanning are short term, because the damage will take several years and will be more than aesthetic.

Take note: The best way to prevent photo aging is prevention.

  1. It is the sun’s UV rays that cause skin disorders and wrinkles. Preventive measures are good, but when using formulas with SPF solution, it is better to consult a reputable skin expert if the chosen product is suitable for your skin. There are such products that don’t fit one’s body chemistry, and using one may cause more harm than good.
