Cholesterol

Fatty compound produced naturally by the liver, whose function is to participate in protection and performance of some hormones and cells, to reach their membranes move through the bloodstream in packages called lipoproteins, a process that is regulated by the body itself so that the fat levels are not increased excessively.

Consumption of foods containing cholesterol as red meat, sausages, certain seafood, butter and eggs, among others, can lead to hypercholesterolemia, i.e. excessive concentration of fat in the blood, which can become a problem because it tends to accumulate in the inner walls of the arteries in the form of plaques or atheromas, giving rise to what specialists call atherosclerosis. This condition is characterized by impaired blood circulation and optimal, therefore, be circulatory and cardiac disorders, it is important to mention that the problems of blood supply to the heart are accentuated if you suffer high blood pressure (hypertension), smoking or eating too much salt.

Types
Medicine recognizes three variants of cholesterol:
Total. Is the absolute accumulation in the body.
Low density (LDL). Also called bad cholesterol because of its small size adheres to artery walls causing them to oxidize and form thrombi or clots that impede the free flow of blood.
High Density (HDL) or good. Its main function is to synthesize (prepared according to what the body needs it) hormones, including adrenaline, in addition to decreasing concentrations of LDL in the arteries, which helps protect the heart.
Saturated. Increase levels of bad cholesterol and total found in animal products, most dairy, as well as coconut oil and cocoa butter nuggets, among others.
Unsaturated. Are highly recommended because they help lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They are found in vegetable oils and fish, and in turn are divided into two categories: polyunsaturated fats like those found in safflower, corn, sunflower, and monounsaturated fats in olive oil, peanut or canola. The latter are even more desirable because its molecular structure is more compact and minimally altered the heat required for food preparation, so that better retain their properties.

It will also be useful to follow the advice then we offer:
* It is highly recommended eating foods rich in fiber such as vegetables and / or cereals, helping metabolism (biochemical process for the assimilation of fats in general) cholesterol.

* The daily intake of one teaspoon of soy lecithin helps to remove LDL.
* Olive oil prevents the decrease in HDL (remember that this is the good cholesterol) and reduce the harmful effects of LDL, due to its high content of antioxidant compounds.
* When cooking is preferable to cook, broil or grilled, or poached instead of fried.
